About Macrina Dunaway, MS

My goal is to encourage you to discover your strengths.

I have worked in diverse community mental and behavioral health settings for 12 years. My early practical experiences working with at-risk populations gave me insight into how necessary and scarce access to mental health care can be.

I’m determined to be part of the solution. I completed my master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at Alaska Pacific University and became a therapist. Throughout my career, I have remained committed to supporting individuals. I have a passion for supporting people as they face life transitions and all the accompanying growing pains. I believe strongly in helping people learn to express compassion toward  themselves and others.

Find your way with love and support.

In therapy, I employ innovative and evidence-based methods that explore the connection between thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. I promote healing and personal growth. Central to my approach is the emphasis on cultivating self-compassion. Being kind to ourselves can be challenging. This is especially true in a society that seems to thrive on self-criticism.

We will take this step together.

I know that when individuals can cultivate self-compassion and learn to trust themselves, they can make decisions based on their values and live a more fulfilling life.
